About the event
Join Great Meadows Conservation Trust's Tim Lewis, and Connecticut River Conservancy’s Rhea Drozdenko (River Steward in CT) and Rebecca Todd (Executive Director) for a paddle on the Connecticut River. We will launch from Wethersfield Cove at 10:30AM and paddle north with the tide to Hartford. We will enter the Park River and will only go about a half-mile or less into the tunnel. The tunnel is very large and can be easily paddled, but it will get very dark. Please bring a headlamp or flashlight that you can strap under the deck bungees on your kayak. After we exit the Park River, we will take a break across the river at Great River Park in East Hartford and return to Wethersfield Cove.
NOTE: We are NOT going all the way through the Park River. This will be just a peek. We will not spend a long time there.
This is an intermediate paddle. Life vests are required. You must also provide your own canoe or kayak. Sunscreen, snacks and water are highly recommended as well as headlamp and/or flashlight. Heavy rain or high water cancels.
Pre-Registration is required. For more information contact Tim Lewis: 860-558-4819, hand2dplow@yahoo.com
