In New Hampshire, our town conservation commissions and local advisory committees are often asked to help landowners with bank erosion issues. However, these are not simple issues to fix! 

To help improve local knowledge on how to restore riverbank failures, the Connecticut River Conservancy is hosting a Streambank Biostabilization Workshop. This workshop will focus on helping town conservation commissions, local advisory committees, and other interested groups and individuals learn more about why riverbanks fail, the impact of sediment and nutrients entering our waterways, what bioengineering techniques can be used to fix them, and the process of taking a project from idea to implementation.

This workshop will also include useful information like permitting requirements, available funding sources, and partners and agencies who specialize in this type of work. The goal of this workshop is to equip members of these local committees with the knowledge to identify problem areas in their communities and connect landowners with implementors, addressing these issues quickly and promoting long-term solutions.  

This workshop is free for attendees and includes light refreshments and a site visit. Most of the site visit will be on flat terrain, but there is an optional site visit to a completed restoration site that will be off trail.
