Join the Nolumbeka Project and partner organizations Connecticut River Conservancy (CRC) and Western Massachusetts Rights of Nature (WMRoN) for two events on Friday & Saturday, February 7-8, 2025, at Greenfield Community College in the Dining Commons.  

The series will open on Friday evening from 7 pm - 9 pm with “From the Ridge to the River: What It Means to Be a Citizen of the Watershed,” a talk from keynote speakers Hartman Deetz, Mashpee Wampanoag artist-activist and environmental and cultural steward, and Rebecca Todd, Executive Director of the Connecticut River Conservancy. Hartman and Rebecca will discuss the Rights of Our Rivers, the connection between ecosystems and their plant and animal populations, and grounding into a sense of place. The Friday evening event will be livestreamed and available at WWW.NOLUMBEKAPROJECT.ORG/EVENTS

On Saturday, join us from 1 pm - 4 pm at the same location for a rare opportunity to participate in a Full Snow Moon Gathering and Eastern Woodlands Social Dance led by the Wampanoag Nation Singers and Dancers.  The single file call and response dances will be taught and are easy to learn and enjoyed by people of all ages.
