About the event

This show centers two large composite works on canvas, one portraying the Connecticut River’s source and one where it flows into Long Island Sound. These paintings were recently created for the Connecticut River Conservancy office in Greenfield, Massachusetts. Each of the two-art works includes a large landscape painting by John H. Sargent. With John’s leadership, a team of artists in the Greenfield area and a group in the Old Lyme area created a border of narrow canvases depicting the flora and fauna of each region that complete the work.

This exhibit will also feature paintings by local Connecticut River professional artists including Leif Nilsson and Sue Joffray and additional collaborative works of John’s from the Roger Tory Peterson Estuary Center. Information on the Connecticut River Conservancy and Lower Connecticut River conservation organizations will also be available.

There will be an opening reception on Wednesday, Oct 8, 6-8 PM.
