Also available matted/backed or printed on wood.
CRC is pleased to offer block prints by Carter Shannon, a young artist and avid fisherman from Connecticut. The prints are available on archival material (matted or floating) or wood.
My name is Carter. I am high school freshman from Connecticut. For as long as I can remember, I have always enjoyed making art. I particularly like printmaking and ceramics. In school and over my school breaks, I took classes to hone my skills, but never found my style, that is, until I discovered fishing.
Three years ago I caught my first fish and I have been out on the water ever since. I love to fish just about anywhere, but I would consider myself a largemouth bass angler at heart. During the past three years I have furthered my knowledge of fishing, and have learned the importance of waterways and conservation. I have incorporated my love of fishing into my art. As I gained more knowledge about the fish that inhabit Connecticut’s waterways, I began putting them on paper, pretty soon all of my art had something to do with fish. My fish prints have been exhibited in several local art shows, and I was awarded silver and honorable mention in the Connecticut Scholastic Art competition. In addition, I won the Visual Arts award when I graduated middle school last year. When I am not fishing, I focus my time on developing new fish prints, and most importantly I am learning about how to conserve and protect Connecticut’s water.
The prints were made using Speed ball black printing ink, on either Arnhem printing paper, or a hand-sanded birch wood panel. Work on paper has been mounted/matted on archival grey mat board.
If you purchase a print, I will be donating 50% of the cost to The Connecticut River Conservancy.
Thank you and Happy Holidays, Carter
